很多人说自己没有很多的徒步经验，我给广大菜鸟的建议：
1：锻炼身体
如果你平时就是200斤的大胖子，你是很难喜欢徒步的。
2：量力而行
如果你没有很多徒步的经验，对于中级的徒步，你不要试图尝试。中级徒步不是在森林中漫步，道路可能很陡峭和光滑，你得手脚并用的爬山。因为我们在一起徒步，如果你走得太慢，别人只好停下来等你。如果你一个人继续前进或者返回，这样都太危险，你可能会迷路和受伤，整个团队会因为你而缩短/取消行程。20公里的中级徒步，可能会花8个小时。
如果你只在皇家山徒步，你不算有任何经验。如果你爬过附近的这些山(Mount Washington，Dix Mountain，Gothics，Giant，Marcy，Algonquin)，你算是有些经验。如果你自己无法准确衡量自己，你最好让组织者给你些建议。
3：适当的装备
必需的个人装备：登山杖，登山靴，登山包，头灯(手电)，至少2升水(一天的徒步)，first aid，放风防雨+保暖的衣服(衣物不能是棉织的)，食物，电话，打火机(火柴)
强烈推荐的装备：指南针+地图(或者GPS)，对讲机
组织者没有给你提供装备的义务。
4：注意环保
把对环境的影响降到最低。
5：出发前多作功课
是你自己想出去玩，你得了解你要去的trail，地形。根据组织者告诉你的地点，你必须进行更仔细的调查。记住：“其他任何人不会对你的行为负责，你100％对自己的所有行为负责。”
