我刚到过ATI网址, 品种很多, 有ATI-TV, ATI-TV WONDER我是个外行人, 可我想应该是ATI-TV, 在它的PRICE LIST上为119加元. 现在问题是, 它的SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS是WIN95/98, 而我的是WIN ME, 是否意味着不适用于我的机上? 另外, 它要求有ATI GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR, 那也得买一个吗? 请指教.

我的卡是ATI TV WONDER，价格是100多，具体我记不清了。TV WONDER VE比较便宜一些70多。虽然网上说是要求95/98，但网上提供 Driver 升级，可以在2000，ME和XP下用。我现在就是在98和2000下使用，没用什么问题。但我感觉在98下效果要好一些(清晰度)。另外，如果你的机器不是太老，显卡都会支持，不用买ATI GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR。我的显卡是TNT2 64M。

the best one is ati all in wonder 8500-DV. with this card, you can 1) user your computer as a personal video recorder to record tv programs 2) input video through a)av cable b)firewire cable c)svideo cable (but no componet cable yet, that's the one i really want to usr) 3) 3-d video capacity at 128mb for gamers. 4) its media video quality is good (i tried geforce 4 card, and i shall say i can't see any difference)

Well, dude, hereunder is the specification of the $450 VCR: Sony, HiFi, 1 set of AV input at the front and 1 back, PAL/NTSC/SCREAM?/...., 6 heads/ Extended play...., S-Video interface i guess,
How's yours? The only thing I knew is I can buy a JVC S-VHS VCR at $200, it's a higer level than VCR. Well, I'll wait and see.

to do video editing, you need a av-card. with a desktop, you can adapt the av-card with the pci slot which allows fast datatransfer speed. despite the expensive price for an mobile av card, for any external device connecting to laptop, you only have four choices: parallel port, serial port, usb port or firewire port, all of them have very slow data transfer speed. theoretically, you can do it with your laptop, but you will spend a whole day to transfer an hour tape to your harddrive. its effective but not efficient. get it?
that sony vcr sounds good, but do you really need a vcr?

Even for a PCI card, data is transfered by firewire port, which is quite fast.

Do I really want a vcr??? This question has been bothering me these days. What I want is to watch some PAL tapes and copy from my PAL camcorder to VHS tapes, that's all. Well, if it's workable to convert Hi 8 tape into VCD(I've got an external CDRW too), I'd rather give up my dance VHS tapes or make them VCD later on.

Solution needed:
Solve "converting Hi8 PAL tape into VCD" with laptop(2 PCMIA ports and USB ports, no IEEE1394 connection...) and external CDRW without IEEE1394 connection, PAL camcorder with A/V output.  :confused:
