We are a group of oversea Chinese and are very concerned about the recent situation in Tibet.
We strongly denounce any violence toward civilians recently happened in Tibet and are against any sorts of hatreds among ethnic groups. We support Chinese government’s effort to stop violence and restore order and law in these areas.
As we know, the African Americans in the US and the Quebecois in Canada all have their own political arguments. But they are the good exemplars to raise their flags within the law enclosure, to select correct leaders that have broad visions and by all means heading forward along the peaceful route. In contrast, some special organization in Tibet takes the wrong way, as we see the burning and looting of shops, beating people from other ethnic groups. The history and the existing conflicts tell us: violence can achieve nothing.
Ignored by most Canadian media, a Tibetan organization trepassed China general consular office in Toronto with violence last week. Such behavior obviously violates the Canadian laws and related International pacts. And they are still organzing larger scale operations.
So, we oversea Chinese have to turn to the street to express our deep concern. Will such operations run following its supposed track? Is the situation still within the grab of the Canadian leaders? Even, what is the supposed track, same as in Tibet?
We call for the attention of Canadian society and its media to adopt a more balanced perspective to encourage non-violence and reconciliation, to help relieve tensions between ethnic groups, and to avoid escalation of violence in Tibet and neighboring areas, and aboslutely zero-violence within Canada society.
We also encourage people all over the world to take possible chances, including the Olympics Games, to get to know more about China, to walk into China, to contact ordinary Chinese people. A country with five thousand year history will evolve into a more open and better place within an open and friendly world. China’s past thirty-year’s open-up experience has proved it.
And we strongly hope Canada is always as it is, open, tolerant, richful and peaceful.
To Canadians: Several truths about Tibet twisted by Canadian media, by Canadian premier minister
“China invaded Tibet in 1950s”
China is a multi-culture nation just like Canada. Nobody can deny that Tibet has been merged into China since mid 13th century (Yuan Dynasty). Since then, Chinese central government never loses control of Tibet. If Tibet should be independent, then why not Texas, why not Hawaii, why not Scotland?
“The manifestation these days is peaceful”
According to The Toronto Star last Tuesday, John Kenwood, 19, from Victoria B.C., said that he witnessed a motorcyclist "being pummeled unconscious by a mob hurling chunks of pavement as big as bricks." he saw the man drenched in blood after being beaten by "15 men carrying what appeared to be two-meter long, silver poles."
“The crack down by China government should be denounced.”
Don’t forget, in 1970s, Trudeau government also sent tanks to Montreal.
In fact, China government spends a lot of money every year to repair temples, to protect Tibetans’ language, culture, etc. Tibet is in the progress of modernization, That something will change is sure during the modernization.
“Dalai Lama is a saint, a great person who loves peace.”
Before he left Tibet in 1959, 90% of the Tibetans were slaves. His regiment in Tibet was totally theological, feudalistic. Today, Canadian solider are fighting in Afghanistan against another theological feudalistic regiment.
“Only Western media is objective”
A man in Nepal police uniform beating a Tibetan shown in TV is reported as a Chinese policeman. When the TV shows looting allover Tibet, is this “peaceful” manifestation.
Why only Free Tibet is broadcast by Canadian media unilaterally?
