Part 2 - City of Dreams & Food Is Heaven
In the second China Rises broadcast on January 29, China's future is examined from different perspectives. In "City of Dreams," a fascinating group of Shanghai residents - ranging from a video director to an activist - describe the inequalities and extremes that are part of China's most cosmopolitan city, where young professionals are leading lives of discotheque decadence, while resentment rises among those sidelined by Shanghai's rapid transformation. And finally, "Food Is Heaven" presents a passionate case for why food is the very heart and soul of China. By offering an anatomy of a Chinese celebratory feast, and interviews with both a chef in training and a conservationist, "Food Is Heaven" argues that steps must be taken to combat the toll that industry and a strained environment are taking on China's resources. Just finished the second part of China Rise. Bad feeling. it should be called 'China Down'.
Something wrong about the title, and maybe for those western people, it is a good documentary. For us, two thumb down! Because there are too much dark sides shot in it! it may true, but not exactly about what the 'China Rise' is, most things it talked about the down side of China and unsure future.
Anyway, not bad for watching. Just my feeling is pretty unhappy and a little confuse(about the title) after I finished it.
If some people want to comment this documentary, you can log on CBC.ca, and send your opinion and feeling. I'v already done that, and hope more chinese people here can do the same thing. Agree or disagree, good or bad, no matter what it is.
