Extra thing to tell...
Hello People,
My laptop has no Chinese function. So, i would have to type in English.
I do wish to express something that i have seen myself these years. I am originally from Taiwan, and I have lived in Montreal for two years, right now i am living in SK for my study.
I love fishing and i did a lot when i was in Taiwan. For me fishing is an art, a pleasure that you enjoy but not necessary for taking everything that you catch. As i always put the fish back no matter where i fish. This theory might not apply to many of us but maybe it is good to learn to take what only it is necessary, not for greedy.
You can take one or two as your rewards, but it should not be greedy. Not taking everything you catch regardless of sizes and numbers. This behavior is not pleasant for many local people here, either you are Chinese or foreinger, the culture here enjoying more fishinng than other things. It is also about protecting nature and be a part of the nature.
A year ago, i was running with my French friend nearby the park of Verdun. I saw two Chinese guys finishing with their kids, What we both saw shocks us in a way. Those two Chinese guys threw the fish on the ground after taking them out of water, the fishes were struggling there until they died, and they took any size of fish as long as they caught it. And their kids were cheerful jummping around with it. My friend asked me if Chinese people finsihing in this way, i said,no, not really, most of us don't, but i have to tell you this "minority people have given the majority people a hard task. "A stain that you can hardly wash off, because you wear the same colour and face".
I went to Vietmanese resturant with many of my friends. I saw many Chinese people, either from Szechwan or Hunan, they made not only huge noise when they are talking, it seems they are the only people there, but also they ate like pig (sorry, this is really how i can think off), i cannot believe they even made huge "hiccup" in front of everybody and felt great of their food. My Japanese and French friends immeidately made a face of EWW! No kidding...
Do i feel shame? Yes, i do, and i also feel sorry for rest of Chinese people.
We are here because we chose to be here, we are new to this land since we were not born here. Many of us try to establish a social life, a social image here with respect but many of us just destory the basic respectful images of it. Until now, many of my foreigner friends still feel Chinese people are poor and not very educated. I am really sorry that they feel that way, they always said no you are from Taiwan, you are different. Do i feel happy? No, because no matter where i am from. I have Chinese blood inside me. This does affect me because how much i do wish people seeing Chinese and feel great about our knowledge and culture. Not those downside images..
In fact, the issue here is not only about fishing issue, it is the majority of many Canadian here do not recognize your status as one of the people here, the intergration performance from Chinese people is not reaching a satisfactory level. We might be good in studying but social manner is a key to success, not just about how smart you are, how many degree you might have. You got to keep what it is good but immerge yourself in this new land as well. We all want people to respect us, but how much we earn it for ourselves?
I had once two Chinese roommates, one is extremely not honest,in a way stealing my money, one is extremely kind in heart, but extremely dirty, since then i never live with Chinese. I would like too but i couldn't because of those unpleasant memories.
Don't get me wrong, two of my best friends are Chinese,i respect them from heart, but i have to tell you what i have seen on this board, as if you ever see people doing that, try to stop them kindly, you are not helping them to earn the respect, you are also helping yourself to gain the respect, if you are the people who are actually doing that all the time outside, then earn yourself a little respect and stop doing that, because your face REPRESENT many of Chinese people, every action you did, you affect the rest, your own family and children as well.
One last thing i wish to mention here is.. i agree to make a refelction on what happened with the finishing issue but you should always report it to police, it is because you are NOT DESERVING this treat as you are one of the people who has the right on this land. Check the local status before you go finishing, but if face something unfair then you should learn to protect your right. Gathering the legal power and to defend yourself in the right way, not to fight with them but using a better way to earn the right back.
Chinese people like to stay quiet. it is not like you stay quiet then the problem would be gone. I don't find it very helpful here. You don't shout aloud with everything but you don't step back all the time. No one would stand for you if you keep stepping back. From my personal experience, i earn more respect by defending myself properly, putting a line for people to know respecting is necessary here.
Cheers,
